Lanterns
Choose from a
collection of six (6) medium size solid brass oil cabin lanterns. The
collection is styled after the lamps used aboard sailing
ships in the early centuries of sail and steamships.
Brass lamps such as these were found in first-class cabins
aboard every sailing ship and steamship that plowed the
high-seas before and even after electric lighting was
available.
This was the era of very
ornate and luxurious cabins with hand carved beds and
dressers, silk brocade tapestries on the walls, ornate
dining rooms with crystal candle chandeliers and lanterns such as
these in every upper -deck cabin.
Each lamp has a
distinctive style with glass windows and a small oil
lamp. Some on legs, one with a round
porthole lens, one is six-sided, some have hardwood
handles just as pictured at left.
By installing an electric
light kit they will be much safer to use as normal lighting
and will not tarnish as quickly.
